Style icons: the other Lollo

Speed skater Francesca Lollobrigida returns from her adventure at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics with a disappointing placement, but we want to celebrate the fun hairdo she sported during the Games, when she went for a distinctive grey-pink-purple-blue look. Was it a unicorn, or a mermaid?

Francesca is a distant relative of the iconic 50s movie star, Gina Lollobrigida (nicknamed Lollo), but the 27-year-old from Frascati inherited her passion for skating from her dad Maurizio, who was also a skating multi-medallist in his younger days. Obviously, speed runs in the family.

Francesca swapped inline skating for ice skating after the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, and she now spends several months each year in the Netherlands, where ice skating is taken seriously. But there's more: according to her bio on the Italian Olympic Committee's web site, before becoming a professional athlete Francesca was a Biotechnology student. Thumbs up for this new-Millennium
